Welcome to Friday. A day that a bunch of zombie army readers have off, which is always a nice thing.
Even if you are working or schooling today, I have a juicy za update for you. I used a ton of black in this page, more than I've probably ever used. So much that I actually had to drop on some white borders to separate all of the frames.
Turned out pretty slick I think, and it really conveys the atmosphere perfectly.
Between you and me... the next few pages are going to be awesome!
Have a great weekend and see you next update.

In today's zombie army update I tried something a little different. I am striving to add a lot more dark areas and shadow in all of the panels. What I'm trying to accomplish is to show how dark and gothic Kristy's school is.
It's not a neon lit school from the suburbs for sure, but more of a haunted house where the next generation of zombie hunters get stuck in summer school.
The black space in today's update isn't perfect for sure, but it's a step in the right direction, and it's something I'll keep working on!
Speaking of arts, every weekday over at comet 7, one of my other comics, I put up a new drawing or doodle. You can check it out by voting for comet 7, the easiest way is a little way down the page find the big ole raging water cooler and click on him.
The reason I bring this up is today's vote incentive drawing is a little skeleton robot done in a similar style as the shadow/dark area coloring I used in today's update. Just thought you might like to check it out!
Thanks for reading and if you have a few minutes, let me know what you think of the new book on the forums.

I've been finding lately that I could spend days and days working on the zombie army updates. The artwork now really, I feel that I could just keep adding more and more detail to it.
Sadly I don't have that much time to do that, so a lot of times I have to cut myself off and at a certain point save the comic and upload it.
The last few months I've been super busy and I haven't been able to do all the extra arts that I have been and it's really starting to bum me out.
July is going to be my get back to arts month, where I'm adding some new stuff to the zombie army store as well as knocking out the new washed ashore update.
Sometimes (always) being busy is dumb!
Thanks as always for reading and the emails and myspace messages and forum posts!

The brand new kristy vs. the zombie army book starts today and it's called Detention Again?!
This chapter is going to be much smaller, and a lot more light hearted than the last one. Zombie army is my place to explore all kinds of story telling and art work. Looking back at the beginning and comparing it to now, it's really crazy how far I've come.
What's even crazier is how much further I need to go.
As long as you enjoy reading 'em and I enjoy making 'em I think we will be in good shape.
So check out the newest page, welcome to the new book, and see you next update!

So today's update is the final page of the current chapter, Into the Darkness. I tried a whole bunch of new stuff with this chapter, not just with the art, but with the story, the pacing, the design... pretty much everything.
Overall I'm really happy how everything turned out as well. One thing that I find pretty neat and that I did on purpose was to choose a similar perspective on Kristy's school, Nightshade University, in today's update, as I did in an early update.
If you check out page 13 and now today's update, you'll see how much my art has changed and developed since I've started. I think the school looks neat in both comics, but the 'new' Kristy looks about a million times better.
Practice is good!
If you are looking for more comics to read this morning, swing by the forum and check out this topic. I did a guest comic for my bud over at Dueling Analogs, so you can peek at that too.
So to everyone, thanks a bunch for reading, thanks for all the great emails and support, and I'll see you back here next week with the beginning of the all new zombie army chapter!
